Magnum Ice Rink

From Saturday 21st August 2010, there will be no public skating at Magnum Leisure Centre  Monday to Friday to enable ice to build up for the forthcoming curling season, however the public skating session at the Disco each Friday and Saturday will continue as normal.

 

Rebecca Adlington to swim at Training Session

Double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington will visit Auchenharvie Leisure Centre on Friday 20th August to swim as part of a training session for the North Ayrshire Amateur Swimming Club.

Rebecca has also agreed to take some time following the training session to talk to swimmers of the swimming club and sign autographs etc.

K:A LEISURE - UNDER STARTERS ORDERS FOR 2014 COMMONWEALTH GAMES

 

K:A Leisure has won support from Events Scotland to launch an inaugural North Ayrshire Community Sports Event in October 2010 as part of a national programme of events marking the handover of the Commonwealth Games Flag from Delhi to Glasgow.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow will include teams from 71 countries with more than 6,500 athletes and officials across 17 sports providing a unique opportunity for communities across Scotland to achieve a lasting legacy from the Games.

The Event Scotland initiative, with £320,000 funding from the Scottish Government, has identified a programme of events extending across all Scotland’s 32 local authorities including North Ayrshire to support the lead up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Handover Ceremony at this year’s Delhi Commonwealth Games,

K:A Leisure are promoting the North Ayrshire Event and, working with its partners, have pledged to promote a lasting legacy from the Games through developing a programme encouraging ‘Everybody in North Ayrshire to be Active, Involved, Inspired’ to take-up, or take part more often, in physical activity and sport.

A series of taster sessions in selected Commonwealth Games sports including hockey, rugby sevens and a 5K race will be held at K:A Campus St Matthew’s on 7th to 9th October 2010.  The ‘North Ayrshire Community Games’ will also feature a primary school athletics competition, a 1K fun run and a 5K race to encourage all the community in North Ayrshire to become involved in the celebration of the Commonwealth Games, which will be the biggest ever sporting event to take place on Scottish soil!  On top of all this there will be a range of activities for families and young children.

North Ayrshire’s young people will have tons of fun things to do this summer as K:A Leisure gears up for more extremely popular BIG Days!


As always, K:A Leisure’s BIG Days are BIG on family fun and this summer there will be 5 BIG Day events spread across North Ayrshire including:

Each BIG Day the fun begins at 11am with hours of jam-packed entertainment and activities for the kids and cool stuff for Mums and Dads happening throughout the day until 4pm.

So what’ll be there at the BIG DAYS? … ‘Fun Zones’ featuring new and exciting Big Day activities including areas packed with Fun ‘n’ Games, Mini Olympics, Knockout Challenge and Splash ‘n’ Chill zones. What with Urban arts, street dance, DJs, face painting, football, balloon modelling, bouncy castles, fun inflatable's, multi sports and games, health checks, fitness challenges, on the spot competitions, phew, and loads more what more could you want!

Stay and play all day for only £2.00 per person at all events excluding Magnum Leisure Centre where the admission is £3.00 per person (prices apply equally to adults and children).  NB. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
