What is the K:A Talented Sportsperson Scheme?

The K:A Talented Sportsperson Scheme provides athletes and their coach(es), including young athletes and those with additional support needs, FREE access to our leisure facilities for a period of 2 years.  The Scheme is aimed at complimenting training programmes and assist the athlete achieve their full sporting potential. 

Whatever the sport, our K:A Talented Sportsperson Scheme can assist athletes through  access to fitness studios, swimming pools, ice rinks, golf driving range, athletic track and field activities and other sporting facilities across North Ayrshire!  

Successful applicants will receive free access for a period of 2 years and should re-apply thereafter to renew.

Do I qualify?

To qualify for this Scheme, individuals must be non-professional, high achieving adults or young athletes aged 8 to 18 years.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate high levels of performance in their sport, either at senior of age level, in one of the following categories:

• current member of the sports national squad (e.g. Scotland or Great Britain)
• achieved 1^st, 2^nd or 3^rd place in a national competition
• current member of the district or regional squad
• achieved 1^st, 2^nd or 3^rd place in a district or regional competition

Eligibility may also be considered where it can be demonstrated that:

• The individual has competed in a sport where there is no national squad but where he/she has represented Scotland at an international event in that sport
• The individual has potential to achieve high levels of sporting excellence and application is supported by their sport’s National Governing Body
