Auchenharvie Leisure Centre - Ice Rink Redevelopment PDF Print E-mail
24 August 2009

As part of a massive £25 million investment in new sport and leisure facilities in North Ayrshire to replace the ageing Magnum Leisure Centre, a new Ice Rink is to be constructed at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre.

To allow for this, the Ice Rink at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre will close 17th August 2009. When closed, the existing facility will be decommissioned to enable the development to take place with work on the new rink expected to start later in the year. It is anticipated the new Rink will be completed Spring 2011.
Other facilities at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre are not affected including the swimming pool and K:A Fitness which remain open as normal.

Frank Keddilty, Chief Executive of K:A Leisure said:
“The new rink is great news for everybody and secures the future for ice sports in the area. It is also a boost for Auchenharvie Leisure Centre and, at a time when the number of Ice Rinks in Scotland is reducing, will not only provide facilities for the local community but attract skaters from further afield.”

In the interim, the Magnum Leisure Centre Ice Rink remains available and K:A Leisure is working with local ice clubs to accommodate existing customers at this site until the new facility at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre becomes available.
